STATEMENT

The Center for Fine Art and Photography is proud to present the Diffusion Annual Exhibition.

Diffusion is an independent, reader-supported annual that highlights and celebrates unconventional photographic processes and photo related artwork. Diffusion unveils contemporary photographers who are working outside of the digital realm, using historical techniques, new ways to consider the photograph, and new approaches to the medium. Jurying this year’s exhibition are Blue Mitchell, the Founding Editor or

Diffusion Annual, an independent, reader and contributor supported annual that celebrates non-traditional photography. Mitchell also curates Plates to Pixels, an online photography gallery that bridges the gap between antiquated photographic processes and new digital media. The second Juror is Katherine Ware, the Curator of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, where she organized the exhibition, book, and website Earth Now: American Photographers and the Environment. She is a frequent juror and reviewer of contemporary photography and has written essays on the art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The Diffusion Annual exhibition is supported by an audience of photographers, gallery directors, educators and art enthusiasts worldwide. This year’s collection is a striking and varied experience. In these beautiful forms and excellent prints the viewer is taken out of the expected photography exhibition and into a new place. The pieces have the majesty of traditional photography but with an extra step, an extra push, encouraging the viewer to experience photography in a new way.
