STATEMENT
Christopher Capozziello believes that there is “a redemptive quality to photography; that it can take the unpleasant or repulsive and make it beautiful, not by misleading anyone, but by allowing the viewer to stop and take a deeper look at the subject.” This can be seen through his body of work The Distance Between Us that showcases his twin brother’s fight with cerebral palsy. Christopher Capozziello’s The Distance Between Us shows an elegance that simply expresses the truth about his subjects, no more, no less.
Christopher is a founding member of AEVUM, a photography collective in which the camera is used as a tool to find answers by photographing people from all walks of life. World Press Photo, the Alexia Foundation, the Golden Light Awards, the National Headliner Awards, and the China International Press Photo Contest have all recognized his work. The Distance Between Us is one of three projects Capozziello is currently working on; the other two, “A Diary of Healing” and “For God, Race and Country” can be seen in College and Universities throughout the country.
