Artist’s Statement

I find spirit in what I see on my daily walks and capture with my camera. It appears in places expected and unexpected. My need to look for meaning in everyday life was intensified in 2020 by COVID19, civil rights issues, and the election. From March through August, I walked around the environs of downtown Tucson, AZ to document how the pandemic and events of the day were affecting our community. The process allowed me to find beauty, even in unprecedentedly difficult times. Making these images brought me some healing and peace.
