Chanell Stone (b.1992) is a photographer living and working in Oakland, CA. Her practice is invested in depicting the Black body’s relationship to the American landscape with emphasis on urban inner-city environments. Stone graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Photography from the California College of the Arts and has since exhibited in galleries across San Francisco and New York. Notable accomplishments include her 2019-2020 solo exhibition Natura Negra at the Museum of the African Diaspora San Francisco and her inclusion in the 2019 Aperture Summer Open at the Aperture Foundation in New York.

Stone’s work has been permanently collected by the Center for Photography at Woodstock and the Myer Library at California College of the Arts. Alongside her personal practice, Stone also uses her art as a vehicle for social good navigating as an independent advocate for diversity and racial equity within the arts and as a teaching artist at Southern Exposure San Francisco.
